What is the difference between the Indian and African elephant?
The Indian and African elephants have a lot of similarities, they look the same and sound the same. We are going to talk about the difference between them both. Most of you would have seen both of them, but not know which one is which! After you read this and look at some pictures of the two elephants, then maybe next time you see one of the elephants you might me able to recognise the difference.
An Indian Elephant ~ The Indian elephant is up to 6.4m in length and around 2-3.5m in height. The skin colour of Indian elephants is dark grey and brown, with patches of pink on the forehead, the ears, the base of the trunk and chest.
An African Elephant ~ The African elephant is up to 6–7.5m in length, shoulder height of 3.3m and 6 tonnes in weight. the colour of the elephant is a brownish grey.
As you can see, the two elephants are very similar. But they both live in completely different parts of the world.
